For example, you often eat a peanut butter and banana sandwich for breakfast. It is a quick and easy meal that would keep you satisfied for hours, but what you didn’t realize is just how calories are packed into it. You can measure your food and track your calories online, you’ll get shocked to learn that two slices of whole wheat bread with a couple of servings of peanut butter and a banana add up to nearly 600 calories! 2. You only focused on calories. When you start tracking your calories online, you will find yourself focusing more on quantity (calories) than the quality (nutrients) of your food. For example, you may snack an artificially-flavored, packaged bar in the afternoon instead of a fresh, sliced apple with a couple of tablespoons of almond butter because it has fewer calories. Not surprisingly, it doesn’t satisfy you for long, so you end up eating more in the long run. Why not make smarter choices? Instead of counting calories, you can focus on adding more whole foods, especially nutrient-rich fruits and veggies, to your diet, which help you cut calories while boosting nutrients at the same time.

3. You fail to eat enough during the day. You vow to eat right and exercise when you start to lose weight. Most of the time, things went as planned: you wake up early for a heart-pumping workout and make healthy choices with your meals all day long. However, when you get bach home after a long day of work, you often blow your efforts by ordering greasy take-out or snacking late into the evening because you’re so hungry. After a few weeks of falling into this same trap over and over again and not losing weight, you finally pick up on what is happening. You inevitably overeat at day’s end if you don’t eat substantial meals and snacks throughout the day. Actually, eating more during the day can help you reign in your eating habits at night.
